World’s First Blockchain Drone Black Box System

 A team of engineering students from the University of Southampton has developed what is believed to be the world’s first blockchain-based black box system for drones.

The system records important flight and sensor data directly onto a blockchain during drone flights. Unlike traditional black boxes that store data in centralized systems, this technology uses a decentralized digital ledger, making records extremely difficult to alter or manipulate.

This innovation could significantly improve transparency and accountability in autonomous systems, especially as drones are increasingly used in industries like delivery, agriculture, and surveillance.

By integrating blockchain directly into lightweight hardware, engineers also achieved major performance and energy efficiency improvements, making the technology suitable for real-world drone operations.
