Apple Launches MacBook Neo: Most Affordable MacBook Ever Starting at Rs 69,900

Apple has officially launched the MacBook Neo, introducing the most affordable MacBook in the company’s history. For the first time, Apple is targeting budget-conscious buyers with a laptop priced significantly lower than the MacBook Air.

The MacBook Neo starts at Rs 69,900 in India, making it nearly Rs 50,000 cheaper than the MacBook Air, which currently begins at Rs 1,19,900.

This new device marks Apple’s big step toward expanding its reach in schools, colleges, and households, where low-cost Windows laptops and Chromebooks have dominated for years.

MacBook Neo: Designed for Students and Everyday Users

The MacBook Neo is designed to deliver the Apple laptop experience at a more affordable price.

Despite being a budget device, Apple has maintained its signature premium design and build quality.

The laptop comes with a recycled aluminium body and a fanless design, similar to the MacBook Air, making it thin, lightweight, and silent during use.

Apple has also made the Neo more vibrant by introducing new color options inspired by the iMac and iPad Air.

Available colors include:

  • Indigo

  • Citrus

  • Blush

  • Silver

These colorful options make the laptop appealing especially to students and younger users.

MacBook Neo Runs on A18 Pro Chip

One of the biggest highlights of the MacBook Neo is its processor.

Instead of using Apple’s M-series chips found in MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, Apple has chosen the A18 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro.

The chip includes:

  • 6-core CPU (2 performance cores + 4 efficiency cores)

  • 5-core GPU

This setup is designed to handle everyday tasks such as:

  • Web browsing

  • Online classes

  • Office work

  • Video streaming

  • Basic photo editing

The MacBook Neo comes with 8GB RAM and storage options up to 512GB.

13-inch Liquid Retina Display

The laptop features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408 × 1506 pixels.

It also supports 500 nits brightness, ensuring clear and sharp visuals.

However, to keep the cost low, Apple has removed ProMotion high refresh rate, which is available on premium MacBook models.

Still, the display quality remains excellent for daily productivity, studying, and entertainment.

Battery Life and Charging

Apple claims the MacBook Neo can deliver up to 16 hours of video streaming on a single charge.

The laptop includes a 36.5Wh battery and comes with a 20W charger inside the box.

This battery performance makes it suitable for students, travelers, and remote workers who need long-lasting battery life.

Cost-Cutting Features to Lower Price

To achieve the Rs 69,900 starting price, Apple has made a few compromises.

Some features found in premium MacBooks are missing.

These include:

  • Non-backlit keyboard

  • Two USB-C ports only

  • No MagSafe charging port

  • HD webcam instead of 12MP camera

  • Dual speaker system

Additionally, Touch ID is only available in the higher-end 512GB variant.

Despite these cuts, the laptop still delivers a solid experience for everyday use.

MacBook Neo Price in India

The MacBook Neo price in India starts at:

  • Rs 69,900 – 256GB storage model

  • Rs 79,900 – 512GB storage model

The laptop is available for pre-order starting today on Apple’s website.

Official sales will begin on March 11, 2026.

Should You Buy the MacBook Neo?

The MacBook Neo is ideal for students and first-time Mac users who want an affordable Apple laptop.

It offers:

  • Premium Apple design

  • Reliable performance for everyday tasks

  • Long battery life

  • Attractive color options

If you need a laptop for coding, heavy editing, or professional work, the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro may still be better choices.
